Memories December 13, 2008

rose_in_snow1We all have them.  And they are very prevalent this year especially.  There is no way we can go through this Christmas without some sadness, loss and tears.  But we do have our memories!  Precious clips of life with each of our loved ones that left us this year.  It is overwhelming to think so many have moved on from us in such a short time.  As I put together our new family calendar, there are some names missing.

But they can’t disappear from our memories.  A quote I once heard said ” God gives us memories so we can have roses in December.”  This December, we need some roses….so remember.

Remember the Christmases past. (and the springs and the summers and the autumns) We are one crazy, fun family and there is much to remember.  Share some of those roses with others…it helps.  At our church we are attempting a contata this year.  The title is Christmas at home.  The theme song goes something like this.

Christmas at home, Christmas at home, Lord how I want to go home…my heart’s yearnin so, for I long to go…home at Christmas time.  I personally had a really hard time singing that song.  My mind would play this slideshow each time we sang it…of Christmases past.  I could hardly get through it seeing all my loved ones.  But, the memories are sweet, reminders of the love we have shared.  And how blessed we have been and are still.

This Christmas will be sad, but make it sweet and let’s help each other through it with armsful of roses.  Remember…..

I love you!
